Dark Matters awarded France 2030

Dark Matters, specialist in Realtime Virtual Production and located at their 15,000m2 (162,000 sqft) studios South of Paris, is one of the awarded projects of the France 2030 – « La Grande fabrique de l’image » plan.  Supported by the French Government, the CNC et la Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations, 68 projects in training, film studios and post-production, out of 175 submitted, were selected in France for a financial support of 350 millions of euros.

Announced on the 19th of May 2023 at the Festival de Cannes  by the Minister of Culture, Rima Abdul Malak, Dark Matters’ project has drawn attention for its aim to give productions shooting in France access to the latest technologies, via its 15,000m² studios and consultancy services. 

Under the impulsion of the French President and Government, France is embarking on an ambitious initiative to boost the film industry and position the country among the world leaders in filming and digital production.

Dark Matters is an innovative production complex, just outside Paris, specialised in Virtual and Real-Time production as well as hardware and software innovation. With 15,000 m² of studios, one of the largest European motion capture set, LED virtual systems, in-house creative services providing content creation (previs and VAD), it offers filmmakers a full-service destination for film and series, advertising, TV broadcast and gaming.
Founded in 2021, Dark Matters supports productions across the entire production value chain, with high quality facilities, consultancy services and a team of experts with a track record across numerous productions, including some of the most innovative virtual productions in recent years.

Dark Matters Studios (DMS), a studio complex for filming and virtual production, will be present at SATIS, the trade fair dedicated to creation and technological innovation for media, entertainment and audiovisual communication, on Thursday 16 November. Two highlights in Dark Matters' programme at this event.

Construction work on our buildings in Tigery was still in progress! Despite this, two studios of 1400 and 2000 m² were used to set up 70% of the film's sets, including the abandoned school and the police station.

Discover the impressive physical sets made possible by a 2,040 m² stage and the explosive virtual environments on LED walls for this magnetic shoot.

With three locations to film - from the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia to the Rwandan genocide, and from the tsunami in Southeast Asia to the earthquake in Haiti and the war in Syria, the production team chose to shoot the film using the latest ground-breaking production technologies.
